Up until last week, I was a member of that group. For this reason, almost all people prefer the original version to the Source engine port. Half-Life source is often criticized for being buggy, having a different overall "feel" than Half-Life, and overall being a very lackluster improvement over the original with more downsides than benefits. It's truly a game that has stood the test of time. In addition, the movement mechanics and gunplay still feel great to this day. There's good reason for this, Goldsource was designed and created specifically for Half-Life, and with the SteamPipe updates that were pushed a couple years ago adding support for modern screen resolutions and anti-aliasing, the games scales relatively well to newer PCs, while still remaining very playable on low end hardware. It's collectively agreed that the best version of Half-Life to play is the original Goldsource version of the game.
